Support Our Mission

Your contribution helps us sustainably achieve our mission to cultivate community-based systems of support with newly arrived immigrants.

Home is Here responds to 100% of requests received for community sponsorship as required for release from Louisiana detention centers. Your donations have helped fund the release of almost 100 people without friends or family from detention through new sponsorship placements, and hundreds more have been supported for release to friends, family, and newly developed community supported housing, legal aid, and relationships.

Fuel our mission with a monthly donation

At any amount, your commitment to our work is valued. Regular donations can help us plan and better allocate resources to sustainable initiatives over time.

Sponsorship for Release from Detention & Community Resettlement Groups

We are the only organization in the Gulf South connecting newly arriving immigrants without sponsors to cultivated communities of support for release from detention and long-term resettlement relationship.

Detention Visitation

We mobilize a trained visitation network in support of people organizing on the inside of detention facilities in Louisiana.

Resource Hub

We build a culture of partnership and shared learning and resources within a broad local, regional, and national network. As part of our “connective tissue” role, this includes facilitating communities of practice with LGBTQ+ immigrants and others and offering a free Community Center space to grassroots partners for safety, healing, and power-building.

Legal Aid Capacity-Building

We organize capacity for legal aid through pro bono recruitment, training, and placement with asylum-seekers for representation.

Housing Capacity-Building

We develop networks that offer free and low-cost/immigrant accessible individual and group housing units, rental assistance, and transitional hosting.
